The BikeErg marks the first entry of a exercise bike into the Concept2 family! It is equipped with the same air resistance system on the renowned rowing machine from Concept2 and as expected offers an authentic training!
Innovative bicycle training – the Concept2 BikeErg
Training on the Concept2 BikeErg almost feels like as if you are riding outside on the street. The Concept2 BikeErg is equipped with an air resistance sytem – this delivers a constant resistance level, that also simulates the feeling riding on a real bike. The system must, just like on a real bicycle, first be brought up to speed and once it is in swing, riding becomes easier. Additionally the BikeErg is capable of coasting, which makes for an even more realistic training. Even the mechanical assembly of the exercise bike offers a high comfort level for training: comparing with other exercise bikes the BikeErg pedals are made out of stable metal. The aluminium frame, sports saddle and the multi-grip handlebars of the BikeErgs remind you more on a racing cycle instead of an exercise bike
The heart of the BikeErg – the air resistance
The Concept2 BikeErg is also equipped with the renowned air resistance system. Built with an air flow regulator, it allows you to control how much air enters the mill. This can be set in 10 different levels. During training with the BikeErg the intensity is directly connected with how much power you give – the faster you pedal increases the intensity of the resistance. This principle is not connected with the air regulator. The air regulator is for the purpose of letting more air flow into the mill; with a higher setting letting more air in and resulting in braking the system more.
This principle is comparable to the gearing system on bicycles: a low air flow setting is comparable to a low gear on a bicycle.
With the renowned PM5 monitor you'll have your training data always and everywhere in sight!
The Concept2 BikeErg is equipped with the PM5 monitor which displays important training data and offers the possibility to save your data on a USB stick thanks to the USB port. Additionally the monitor supports heart rate monitoring via ANT+ and Bluetooth. The monitor of the BikeErg is powered by two D-type batteries, but is also powered during your training with the air mill in order extend the lifespan of the batteries. Therefore the BikeErg can stand freely and be moved into any room being free from plugs
Also the Concept2 App ErgData as well as 3rd party apps (e.g. Kinomap) is compatible with the PM5 monitor. As extra motivation the PM5 monitor gives you the possibility to have a virutal race against a second bicycle, where you can also set the speed of this racer.
So that the BikeErg can be comfortably moved after training, it has been built with two transport wheels at the frontside of the frame. The handlebars, saddle and pedals can be swapped out to be individually personalised to your wishes - the connections have been designed so that you can equip your own handlebars, saddle or pedals.
